Anticipation

PART I.
When I grow up, I wanna do important things
I’ll go to pretty places, I’ll know every part
I will be famous and everyone will know me
If I want to, I can, Dad says I have the smarts

When I grow up, I wanna be just like Dad
I’ll drive a car, I’ll play the guitar
I will always smile and never be mad
If I believe, my dreams will take me far

When I grow up, I wanna go to school
I’ll learn new things, I’ll teach everyone I know
I will have fun in everything that I do
If I look, I can find something new everywhere I go

When I grow up, I wanna meet someone like Mom
I’ll hug her when she’s sad, I’ll wipe her tears away
I will treat her like Dad treats Mom
If I try, I can make her the happiest girl I know everyday

PART II.
When I grow old, I want to stay active
I will be in shape, time will not affect me
I will watch my kids grow and be proud
I will be independent, no one need protect me

When I grow old, I want to be visited
I want to be their favorite, to be the best
I want to be the one who makes everyone happy
One that won’t leave until every frown’s left

When I grow old, I want to go outside
I want to smell summer, hear the birds
I want see the beauty that surrounds me
I want to share wisdom, they might hear my words

When I grow old, I want to meet my Grandchildren
I want to see the creations of the love I once made
I want to hold them in my arms and remember youth
I want to show them a love that in time will never fade

PART III.
After I am gone, all that I’ve done will be worth it
I want to have fulfilled my dreams, reached my goals
I want to have made a difference for the ones I love
I will have lived a youthful life, even while I was old

After I am gone, all I wish to leave behind is a smile
I want those that remember me to forget how to frown
I want the world to know my legacy, may it live on
That cheeks were always highest when I’d come around

After I am gone, I want them to have learned from me
I want them to know my success and not make my mistakes
I want them to see this beautiful world the way I did
May they realize it can be theirs if they do what it takes

After I am gone, I want them to know my love is never far
I want them to know they haven’t lost a thing in my absence
I want them to see I appreciate the privilege of knowing them
May they appreciate nature and all the beauty of her madness.
